Spafford Solar (Spafford PV, LLC) is a 4.75 megawatt (MW) solar Photovoltaic (PV) array system located at 1714 E. Lake Road in the town of Skaneateles, New York. The Project occupies approximately 23 acres and consists of ground-mounted solar PV panels.
Construction of the solar array system involves driving posts into the ground, mounting panels racks to the posts, inverters and several transformers sited on concrete pads, and an access road. The Project is within the R-A zoning districts and is considered an "Essential Service" per the Town Zoning Ordinance (§250-30). Under the classification as an “Essential Service,” Spafford Solar requires a Special Use Permit and Site Plan Review.
The Project has received an interconnection study from New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) that confirms available capacity. The solar array system will be connected to the electric power grid via the 34.5 kV three-phase distribution circuit along NY-41 (E. Lake Road), which feeds into the Marietta Substation. Utility-side interconnection to NYSEG's distribution system (not transmission). Partial overhead gen-tie segment per NYSEG design requirements; remain underground on-site collection.
